Royal Air Maroc recorded one of its strongest recent performances in the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards. The Moroccan carrier rose to 58th place worldwide from 70th in 2025 and regained the title of Africa’s best regional airline.
Twelve places gained in one year
Skytrax’s 2026 global ranking places Royal Air Maroc 58th worldwide. That is a 12-place improvement in one edition, a notable rise in a passenger survey covering more than 300 airlines.
The result brings RAM closer to carriers such as Air India, Air Transat and Oman Air, although it remains well behind the global leaders headed by Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways and Cathay Pacific.
Best regional airline in Africa
Royal Air Maroc also ranked 8th among regional airlines worldwide and took first place in Africa in that category, ahead of RwandAir and Airlink.
This is not RAM’s first Skytrax recognition. The airline has held a four-star Skytrax rating since 2015 and had previously won the African regional-airline title.
Progress alongside network expansion
The improvement comes as Royal Air Maroc accelerates growth from its Casablanca hub, opens new routes and increases capacity to Europe, Africa and North America.
For a carrier building Casablanca as a connecting hub between Europe, Africa and the Americas, stronger passenger-satisfaction scores can support commercial positioning, especially among transfer passengers who have multiple alternatives.
Fourth among African airlines overall
In Skytrax’s broader Africa ranking, Royal Air Maroc stood fourth on the continent, behind Ethiopian Airlines, Egyptair and Air Mauritius, and ahead of RwandAir, South African Airways and Kenya Airways.
That distinction matters: “best regional airline in Africa” is a category award and does not mean RAM ranked as Africa’s best airline overall.
What Skytrax measures
The World Airline Awards are based on a large international passenger-satisfaction survey covering ground and onboard experience, including comfort, service, food, staff, cleanliness and entertainment.
Skytrax’s annual awards are separate from its star-rating audits. Royal Air Maroc therefore retains its four-star certification independently of its 58th-place ranking.
