Marrakech: United returns and Delta expands

Marrakech is attracting direct service from major U.S. airlines. United Airlines, which pioneered the market in 2024, is scheduled to return in October 2026, while Delta Air Lines plans to resume its Atlanta service for the winter season.

United returns on October 24

United launched Newark–Marrakech on October 24, 2024, becoming the first U.S. airline to operate a nonstop route to Marrakech. For the 2026–27 season, published schedules show UA628 returning from Newark on October 24, 2026, with the return Marrakech–Newark service restarting the following day.

The route is scheduled with a Boeing 767-300 several times per week during the winter. Its absence in summer is therefore seasonal rather than a permanent withdrawal.

Delta resumes Atlanta–Marrakech on October 25

Delta inaugurated its first nonstop Atlanta–Marrakech route on October 25, 2025, initially using a Boeing 767-400ER three times weekly.

For winter 2026–27, published schedules show the route returning from October 25, 2026. AeroRoutes reports that a Boeing 767-300ER is expected to replace the 767-400ER, with a temporary increase in frequency around the year-end holiday period.

Why Marrakech rather than Casablanca?

Casablanca remains Morocco’s principal international hub and the center of Royal Air Maroc’s network. Marrakech, by contrast, has a strong leisure identity in the U.S. market and a substantial demand base for hotels, resorts and southern-Morocco itineraries.

For United and Delta, Marrakech therefore offers a destination-focused market without directly replicating Royal Air Maroc’s Casablanca hub strategy.

Two U.S. airlines, but not American Airlines

United and Delta are the two major U.S. carriers currently scheduling their own nonstop Marrakech services. American Airlines sells Morocco itineraries through partners but had not announced its own nonstop Marrakech service.
