Korean Air finalizes record order for 103 Boeing jets

Korean Air has finalized a record order for 103 Boeing aircraft valued at $36.2 billion, converting a deal first announced in August 2025 into a firm purchase. It is the largest aircraft order in the South Korean airline’s history.

Four Boeing types in one order

The deal includes 20 Boeing 777-9s, 25 787-10s, 50 737-10s and eight 777-8 Freighters. Korean Air has also signed agreements with GE Aerospace and CFM International covering 21 spare engines and 15 years of engine maintenance for 28 aircraft.

Korean Air values the aircraft alone at $36.2 billion. Including engines and services, the broader procurement program is worth about $44.8 billion.

Preparing for Asiana integration

The order is intended to support Korean Air’s growth and the progressive integration of Asiana Airlines. The airline says it wants to modernize its fleet, improve efficiency and secure delivery positions in a market where production slots remain tight.

The 50-aircraft 737-10 commitment is particularly large, while the 777-9 and 787-10 will strengthen long-haul capacity. The eight 777-8Fs are aimed at cargo fleet renewal and growth.

Why it matters for Boeing and Korean Air

The finalized order secures an unusually broad commitment across the 737 MAX, 787 Dreamliner, 777X passenger program and future 777-8 Freighter. For Korean Air, an order of this scale also shapes financing, pilot training, maintenance capacity and network growth for years while giving the group more flexibility to replace older aircraft and prepare for future long-haul and regional demand.
