On October 20, 2026, Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines announced two planned Hawaiian nonstop routes from Seattle. Flights to Osaka, Japan, and Papeete, French Polynesia, are expected to begin in spring 2027. The routes expand the airlines’ international network from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

The airlines’ joint announcement identifies these as their eighth and ninth long-haul international additions from Seattle.

Seattle gains two new long-haul destinations

Osaka gives travelers in Washington state a new nonstop link to Japan’s Kansai region. Papeete provides a direct route to Tahiti, connecting the Pacific Northwest with French Polynesia without a connection in another U.S. hub.

The airlines described these as the only nonstop Seattle services to the two destinations at the time of their announcement. The claim reflects the schedules available when the airlines announced the routes.

Hawaiian Airbus A330 aircraft assigned

Hawaiian expects to operate the services with Airbus A330 aircraft. Its October announcement also promoted onboard connectivity, including Starlink Wi-Fi for eligible Atmos Rewards members through the airline’s arrangement with T-Mobile.

Travelers should check flight dates, schedules and fare conditions directly with the airline before booking. The carrier may still revise its schedule before launch.

What the additions mean for Seattle

The launches would broaden Seattle’s international nonstop portfolio beyond its traditional transpacific markets. They also show how Alaska and Hawaiian are combining network planning after their corporate integration.

The airline release is the primary source for the announced destinations, aircraft type and planned launch period. The Seattle expansion complements other U.S. network announcements covered by AeroSillage, including Delta’s planned Boston-to-Reykjavik flights. Each launch depends on its own published schedule and booking conditions.
