Flights Resume at Bastia Airport After Flooding Disrupts Operations
Three Air Corsica flights departed Bastia on 21 October for Paris-Orly, Marseille and Nice after flooding. Other services remained delayed or cancelled.

Flights resumed at Bastia-Poretta Airport on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, following the severe weather that disrupted operations the previous day. A departures board supplied to AeroSillage shows three Air Corsica flights marked as departed: flight CCM780 to Paris-Orly at 7:12 a.m., CCM250 to Marseille at 7:17 a.m. and CCM202 to Nice at 7:37 a.m. The departures establish that air traffic has resumed, although some services remain disrupted.
The board also listed Volotea flight VOE2946 to Lille as cancelled. easyJet Switzerland flight EZS1074 to Basel-Mulhouse, originally scheduled for 9:50 a.m., was expected at noon; Air Corsica’s 10:35 a.m. Paris-Orly departure, CCM782, had no departure status recorded. On the arrivals board, EZS1073 from Basel-Mulhouse was expected at 11:20 a.m., while flight CCM251 from Marseille, due at 9:40 a.m., was delayed. Neither arrival had been confirmed on the board at the time of the update.
Conditions also improved overnight. In its 6 a.m. bulletin on Wednesday, Météo-France lowered Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud to yellow weather warnings, after Haute-Corse had been under a red rain and flooding alert on Tuesday. Travellers should still check individual flight times and airport access conditions.
The disruption had been severe on Tuesday, 20 October. At 3:30 p.m., Corse Net Infos reported cancelled departures to Nice, Paris-Orly and Marseille, and arrivals from Nice and Marseille. Bastia’s airport departures board also showed Volotea’s 6:05 p.m. flight to Bordeaux as cancelled. Several routes remained cancelled on Tuesday before the first confirmed departures on Wednesday morning.
How Tuesday’s flooding disrupted travel
In its 11.40 a.m. warning, Météo-France placed Haute-Corse under red alert and Corse-du-Sud under orange. By 3.45 p.m., the prefecture reported rainfall totals of 300–500 mm near Solenzara. The road outside Air Base 126 was flooded; in Folelli, the Route Royale was impassable and damage had been reported in residential areas. On Tuesday, Bastia’s municipal authorities had warned of up to another 160 mm of rain between noon and 9 p.m., with a further wave of storms, possible hail and gusts of 70–100 km/h expected that evening.
At 2.37 p.m., an FR-Alert message instructed people in the affected area to shelter and avoid flooded roads. The prefecture had activated its departmental emergency centre and local response plans. Its 3.45 p.m. update reported 20 rescue operations in progress and another 90 requests awaiting assistance, with further national civil-protection teams expected. About 5,000 households had lost power, according to prefectural information carried by local media. Trains between Bastia and Corte were also suspended.
Road closures affected the RT10 near Mignataja, RD506B at Penta-di-Casinca, the Biguglia low-water crossing, RD344 towards Ghisoni and RD268 between Bavella and Ponte-Grosso. Bastia had closed public-facing municipal buildings from noon. The prefecture provided public information on +33 9 70 80 90 40, while 112 remained the number for emergencies.
Passengers affected by delays or cancellations can check the latest information with their airline or on the Bastia airport website, while Corsica’s official road updates remain relevant after Tuesday’s flooding.
